Suboxone is prescribed for the treatment of opioid dependence. The primary active ingredient in Suboxone is buprenorphine. Buprenorphine is a partial opioid agonist that addresses the biological basis for drug dependence. Suboxone suppresses symptoms of opioid withdrawal and decreases cravings for opioids. At present, buprenorphine is the only medication that meets the criteria for in-office treatment of opioid dependence.
Research has shown that counseling increases the efficacy of Suboxone and reduces relapse. A critical component of the Suboxone protocol is counseling, which addresses the behavioral aspects of addictions. The neurobiology of addiction plays a key role in “learned behaviors”. Neuro-Fusion Technique™ (NFT), a multi-modality treatment, complements the recovery process by assisting the client in creating new neuro-pathways. NFT allows old patterns to be interrupted by rewiring the addictive brain, it interrupts old patterns and rewires the “addictive brain “.
